Ariel

Ariel was struck by a car and flung to the side of the highway by the impact. Her unluckiest day turned out to be her luckiest, as Francesca was driving behind the car that hit her and saw her little body fly into the ditch. Francesca stopped the car and ran to see if the pup had survived the impact. She had, but only just.

Ariel’s whole side had been torn open by the car, and she very clearly had internal injuries. She rushed the pup to our vet, who stayed open to receive her. The injuries were very serious, and he doubted she would survive. In addition to her flayed side, she had 6 broken ribs, and a punctured lung. Ariel was a fighter, and she made it through the night, and through the next, and the next. Because of the dirt in her open chest, she had drains placed un the stitch-line and  was on very strong antibiotics and pain control.

Francesca never gave up on Ariel, and Ariel fought to live with everything her little body had. She made it and recovered with a wonderful foster family who taught her that people and dogs are okay to be trusted and are good things.

Today, her body and her spirit are healed. She is vaccinated, spayed, and fully rehabilitated. Ariel is a small dog, about 25 lbs. She looks like a puppy, but is full grown, probably about a year and a half old. She is as sweet as she is pretty and she is ready for a loving home of her own.

We are a small organization dedicated to helping dogs and cats in Antigua. We sterilize, rehabilite and find homes, and work with other rescue groups.
