Rhina

Rhina is an absolutely darling , very leggy and fawn-like puppy. She was rescued by one of our volunteers as she was being carried around by a sweet little boy in a town near Antigua. The child had found her wandering, sick and weak with rickets and parasites, and could not take her home with him.

Rhina was fostered by a village woman while she got healthy, and we brought her in last month to start training and polishing her up with the skills she will need to be a wonderful family pet.

Rhina is a happy, friendly, outgoing puppy who absolutely adores people. She greets everyone she meets with a happy doggy-smile, and loves to climb into your lap for more snuggles. She is a mid-energy pup, who loves adventures, car rides and going anywhere you do.

She is smart and connected and has quickly learned her basic “sit”, “down”, hand targeting, coming when called, walking on leash, and hopping in and out of the car. She is working on her crate and house training and doing well with both, but is not quite fully trained in either.

Rhina loves to play with puppy and doggy friends, and will play tug with them, and share toys in play, but she doesn’t share valued resources like food, chews, comfy beds or your lap very well with other dogs. She has no issue sharing these things with her human buddies, but this little lady does like to have her space. So we think she would do best in a home as an only dog, or with an older, more mature dog who is happy to respect her boundaries. We are happy to give you more information on dog-dog resource guarding (please check out iSpeakDog to learn more about this very normal inter-dog behavior)

This gorgeous pup is spayed, vaccinated, healthy and ready for a family of her very own.

We are a small organization dedicated to helping dogs and cats in Antigua. We sterilize, rehabilite and find homes, and work with other rescue groups.
