Zara is a mixed breed puppy, approximately 5 to 6 months old on intake. She weighed about 12 pounds, and was thin and filthy, loaded with fleas, and showing lotos of bald patches from an allergic reaction to the flea bites. We picked up Zara in the town of Zaragoza after seeing her curled up in a miserable little puppy ball all day in the town square. She was obviously exhausted, and very small and young to be trying to make it on the street. We passed her many times in the course of the day, and finally crouched down to talk to her, She lifted her head to look at us, wagged her little tail, got up and came over for petting and cuddles. When we stood up to move on, we found we had a shadow. Zara stayed glued to us for the next couple of hours, and we didn’t have the heart to leave her behind when we left the town, soooo…..

Zara is a very sweet dog,  and was adopted in San Francisco.
