In May, we rescued six feral puppies (three males, three females) from a truly horrendous situation. They were trapped in a rubble and garbage-filled space about 12 feet in size. They appeared to have been there for months, judging from the feces and flies and scummy rainwater in old dishes. They were in really terrible shape, terribly malnourished, infested with fleas and internal parasites, and very fearful, of course. We brought them to the center, bathed, wormed, and treated them for fleas. All of them had fly strike on their ears, so we had to remove the crusts and hopefully the fly eggs.
Update two months later: These pups did an amazing transformation.
Not only that they all got back to health and starting to trust people, but also they found a sponsor (thank you so much!) who named them as well.
They learned how to interact with other, bigger dogs and they love our student volunteers which come along for trainings, play sessions and of course, lots of snuggles.
Three of them are currently in a fosterhome and are doing great. The other three in the rescue center are doing good too, but all of them can’t wait to live in a forverhome and to have a family on their own.
All six of them are looking for a foreverhome in Guatemala!
Lil Bit is affectionate, playful and outgoing. She likes going for walks and to sniff around. She is currently in a foster home with kids, rabbits, other dogs and a kitten. Lil Bit is doing really well and is ready to meet her forever-family!
