Mazi was found in Antigua by friends Erin and Gabriel, so skeletally thin and sick that she was barely able to walk. They coaxed her to their home, called us for help, and lovingly cared for her for two weeks until we could take her in.
Mazi was in truly terrible condition. She was nothing more than skin and bones. She was nearly hairless, and covered in mange. We treated her with parasite medication, treated her mange, and started feeding her. She is recovering slowly, but doing quite well. She has put on almost 10 pounds since her rescue, her hair is growing in, and her skin is no longer crusted over and itchy.
Mazi is probably about 5 or 6 years old. She is one of the sweetest, loveliest dogs we have ever taken in. She spends most of her time sleeping in the sun, and in between sunbaths, she eagerly chows don her three meals a day. She loves to be petted and brushed, and accepts all her baths and treatments without complaint.
She will be going in for sterilization and to have a large wart over her left eye removed in early January. She will have her sinuses flushed at the same time, as she has an infection in her nose that is not clearing with antibiotics. Mazi is still recovering and is not available for adoption yet.
