Twig

Twig was born in the town of Comalapa and was rescued by some foreign volunteers there. We were in the town checking on one of our adopted dogs and they brought us this puppy, who was very, very sick. We feared distemper and offered to take her to our vet in Antigua.

Thankfully, Twig did not have distemper, but did have a severe intestinal infection and probably parvovirus. She was treated and made a full recovery.  Twig is of unknown parentage but whoever her parents were, they had to be extremely cute! She is a darling, friendly, happy-go-lucky pup with  the sunniest personality we know.

Twig is going to be on the smaller size for one of our pups though, so we are guessing that she will grow to be about 30 lbs. She has a short, very shiny black coat, with some tan on her front legs, a long tail and folded ears.

Twig is great with other dogs, puppies and people. Twig displayed some food and object guarding with us fairly early on. We have worked training plans with her to teach her that people approaching her ‘stuff’ is a really good thing. She is doing great with this training with humans, but still is not a huge fan of sharing ‘good things’ with other dogs. Twig will need continued training in this area as she matures. She is a friendly, happy-go lucky girl. She is well socialized and doing great with her crate training and basic obedience.

She is up to date on her vaccines, microchipped, wormed and vaccinated. She is spayed and ready for a furever family of her own.

We are a small organization dedicated to helping dogs and cats in Antigua. We sterilize, rehabilite and find homes, and work with other rescue groups.
