We met Little Bird at one of our sterilization clinics in San Pedro Las Huertas. She was struggling to live on the street and not doing very well. A kind man brought her with several other street dogs he was trying to care for, hoping to have them sterilized. The dogs were not in condition to spay, so we wormed and vaccinated them, and sent him home with more food.
On checking with him several weeks later, Francesca found that Little Bird and Lulu were not doing very well at all. So she brought them in to our center to try to rehabilitate them prior to spaying them.
Little Bird was a very scared little dog, but she quickly learned to trust us and blossomed into an adorably sweet young dog. We all fell in love with her, and our caretaker, Julian especially so. He asked to adopt her and when she was well enough, Little Bird went home with him. He kept her name (in Spanish), so she is now called Pajarita, and she is doing great with him and his family.
