Lulu was trying to survive in the street in San Pedro las Huertas with an old, consolidated pelvic fracture and a completely useless hind leg. She was not doing very well; was just skin and bones.
Francesca brought her in along with a younger pup named Little Bird. The two girls spent a month in our Street Dog Suite putting on weight and learning to trust people. In early May, both were healthy enough to be spayed and we integrated Lulu into the main dog area.
She settled in beautifully and gets along with all the other dogs and puppies. She is an absolutely lovely young dog. She is sweet and very affectionate. Our vet feels that she would be more comfortable if her hind leg is removed, so we will have it amputated in early June. Once recovered, Lulu will be looking for a loving home of her own.
Lulu suffered a blood clot several hours post surgery and did not survive her amputation. We are all devastated at her loss.
