We met Ben and his sister Abbey when we held a spay and neuter clinic in mid December, 2013. We approached a poor family who live at the gate of the coffee farm we visit to see if they wanted so spay their female dogs. They did, and brought us two tiny, very sick puppies as well. We operated on the puppies, and kept them for ten days to ensure that they were stronger and get them dewormed, etc. Two days after returning them, Ben became paralysed. We brought both pups back and kept them this time. After treatment for Toxoplasmosis, time and a lot of physical therapy, Ben eventually recovered, and he and Abbey grew strong and healthy. Ben was adopted at the end of February by a visiting nurse, and now lives on Vancouver Island, Canada with his family, who are crazy about him.
